Ylang Ylang & Lavender Hair Mask

If there’s one thing I can say without a doubt it’s that I absolutely despise my hair. It’s the gross kind of curly, incredibly frizzy, and it’s really dry. It also doesn’t help that I dye my hair blonde (and pink and purple).  So needless to say my hair needs all the help it can get to maintain any kind of health.

I’ve used coconut oil as a hair mask for ages but now I’ve bumped it up to an even better mask adding essential oils to the coconut oil. There’s quite a few oils that are good for your hair but I have been reaching for lavender and ylang ylang  to make my hair masks.

Ylang Ylang has numerous benefits for your entire health but when it comes to your hair it’s great for moisturizing. It’s even said that using ylang ylang for hair care dates back to Victorian times in England. Ylang Ylang is known to protect your hair and prevent split ends.

Lavender is my other go to for my hair in that it’s great for scalp care and also helps promote hair growth. My hair does grow pretty fast but I’m in the midst of growing it out again and so I love anything that will give it an extra boost while growing. It’s also regenerative oil that will help your damaged hair.

What you need:

2 tbsp Coconut oil (adjust accordingly to your hair amount)

5-8 drops lavender oil

5-8 drops ylang ylang oil

small bowl

Warm coconut oil in the microwave and then add in your oils. Mix together and apply mask all over hair. Let sit for 1 hour at the minimum or you can even wrap your hair and let it sit overnight in order to really let the oils do their work. Wash hair and style as usual.

For best results apply mask once a week.
