2016 has been a year hasn’t it and it feels like November alone has been pretty…well shitty. If you’re like me you’re still trying to wrap your head around the election and figure out what comes next. Other than all that I really do love this time of year so I’m trying to focus on that. I love the holidays and just the way everything feels around this time of year. It’s my absolute favorite and I’m more than ready to say goodbye to November and welcome in December. There were at least a few good things that came with this month and some pretty delicious recipes.
1. Kale & Cauli Mac & Cheese // 2. Pumpkin Pie Oats // 3. Cranberry & Brussels Kale Salad // 4. Lentil Stew // 5. Butternut Squash Cauliflower Risotto // 6. Apple Pie Loaf // 7. White Chocolate Pumpkin Cookies
Gilmore Girls – The day so many of us were so eagerly anticipating finally came when Netflix released the new series of Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls has long been one of my very favorite TV shows so being able to finally revisit Stars Hollow and all my favorites was so exciting. Without any spoilers I will say it seems like I was one of the few who actually really enjoyed the series. There were definitely things they could have done away with and story lines that just really bothered me but overall I did enjoy the series. I know a lot of people were unhappy with Rory not being a super successful journalist and struggling with what comes next but I for one really appreciated that. Real life is a struggle and there are a lot of us who feel exactly like Rory does. It’s nice to be able to watch and relate. As far as those infamous last four words, I had pretty much guessed that’s what they were going to be so I didn’t feel as gobsmacked as I would have. I understand why that’s what they were and while I do hope we get to see what comes next I would be okay if we didn’t. I’m just thankful we got these four new episodes. It may not have been perfect in every single aspect but I really enjoyed it.
The Crown – Keeping in the Netflix family my other TV obsession this month has been The Crown. Far and away one of the best series I have seen in a long time. I’m already on my second viewing in less than a month. I absolutely love the Royal Family and so a period piece about the Royals starring Matt Smith had me hooked from the word go. I went in with extremely high expectations and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a bit slow at times mainly because it’s not just all the perks of being Queen and oh drama and scandal but there is a lot of political stuff and a lot of filler on that side that they could have done away with. Without spoiling anything there is a subplot in episode 4 that I truly didn’t care about so stuff like that was a little meh. It doesn’t take anything away from the show as a whole though. Claire Foy is absolutely brilliant as the young Queen Elizabeth as is the rest of the cast in their respective roles. The storylines follow closely to what really happened, from King Edward’s abdication to where Elizabeth was when her father died and she actually became queen, Princess Margret’s affair so much more. I’m sure there are bits that are embellished or aren’t 100% factual but that’s to be expected. I’m already eagerly anticipating season two.
Doterra Healthy Hold Hair Glaze – I’ve been loving this hair glaze this month. My hair is really frizzy and pretty dry but I feel like this has helped a lot in terms of controlling the frizz and helping smooth it when I flat iron it. It’s made with essential oils instead of a bunch of chemicals which is always good for me.
