Things I Fancy: October 2016

Hi friends! I’m so excited to be saying good-bye to October only because that means it is now officially my favorite time of year! The last two months of the year are the absolute best and I’m so excited they are finally here. It also means that this election is almost over and I know I am not the only one who can not wait for it to end. Basically, there is a lot to look forward to in the next few months but here’s a little look back at the things I’ve been loving this past month.

What I Cooked:

  1. My Go-To Falafel // 2. Black Bean Tortilla Soup  // 3. Pumpkin Spice Scones // 4. White Bean, Green Olive Bowl

Greg James That’s What He Said Podcast: Listen, I’ve been hardcore crushing on Greg James for a while so this isn’t exactly a new find for me but I’ve been loving his podcast even more lately. It’s a can’t miss for me and I’ll even listen to old episodes if I get bored. It’s basically a recap of his daily radio show but it’s just the “best bits” from there. All the silly games (wrong-uns is by far my favorite) and the best of celebrity interviews make up most of the podcast. There are also little extra bits in there that aren’t on the radio show and make it silly and fun. There are a lot of in-jokes but it won’t take you long to pick up on who the Butter Monster is or what cheese ball is.

The Wonder | Emma Donoghue (Book Review)

The Wonder: I’ve been slacking in the reading department lately and I’ve had a hard time finding a book I want to finish. This book however ended my slump! It’s the story of a little girl in Ireland who hasn’t eaten in months and it was beautiful. There’s a full review here.

Glitch: This is an Australian show that just got put on Netflix in the States and it probably would have passed me by had I not seen it being recommended on facebook. It’s only 6 episodes so I definitely managed to binge watch it in an entire day. It’s the story of people who end up rising from the dead in perfect physical shape and health. It’s a wild ride start to finish and it does have it’s slow moments but for the most part it sucks you in and you have to know what’s happening.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer: This primer seems to get knocked out of my rotation for different ones often but I started using it again and I couldn’t remember why I had stopped. It’s been my favorite primer lately and considering I have pretty crappy skin I need all the help I can get an for what this costs I feel like it gets the job done. It’s not as silky going on as other primers but it works great.

Biosilk Finishing Spray: This has been one of my end all be all hair products for years. It’s an absolute must have for me. I have frizzy curly hair that I straighten and a few sprays of this gives me a sleek finish that I wouldn’t other wise get. It smells wonderful and leaves my hair feeling great.

Whole Foods: My little corner of Texas is moving up in the world and we finally got a Whole Foods! I was lucky enough to get a tour of the store before it opened and I’ve already been there two times since it opened a couple weeks ago to go shopping. It’s clear on the other side of town from me which is the only downside but that’s better than the nearest one being 4 hours like it used to be.
