Happy September stranger friends!! August has officially come and gone and I don’t know about you but I am more than ready for fall. It’s my favorite time of the year even though it will definitely still feel like summer here for at least 2 more months. I hope you all had a great summer and aren’t too sad to see it go. Let’s get into all the fun things from August shall we?
What I Made:
I’ve never done this before but I figured it’d be a good idea to recap all the things I made during the month. There were lots of yummy things up on the blog this month but I can’t get enough of the granola I made. You can also never go wrong with spinach artichoke dip!
- Sweet Potato and Black Bean Chilaquiles (Gluten Free)
- Green Dream Smoothie (Vegan + Gluten Free)
- Mighty Mexican Calabacitas Bowl (Vegan + Gluten Free)
- Blueberry Almond Granola (Vegan + Gluten Free)
- Spinach Aritchoke Dip (Vegan + Gluten Free)
Here’s what else I was loving this month:
Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat – This stuff is a miracle worker. I’m not even kidding. I have tried SO many top quotes that claim to be quick drying but none of them work as well as this one does. It basically has all the qualities of a gel polish without the light and all the cost. It dries quick, it leaves your nails shiny, and does a great job of keeping your polish chip free. If you paint your nails as often as I do this is an absolute must have.
Paige Denim – You always hear about people spending $200 on a pair of jeans but that’s definitely never been a priority of mine. It’s one of those things where you know it’s probably worth it and they are probably comfy but no thanks. Then I found these Paige jeans at Nordstrom Rack and while they normally run about $180 Nordstrom Rack has them for about 100 bucks cheaper. They are such amazing quality and they are the most comfortable jeans I own. I can’t really justify $200 but 80 bucks over spending 20 or 40 on quality that’s not that great is way worth it. Paige Denim is made in the United States and they also pride themselves on working closely with a number of charities that promote healthy and positive self-image.
Dark Matter – This is one of my favorite book that I’ve read this year so it absolutely needs to be in my august favorites. It’s a sci-fi thriller but it’s so much more than that. There’s a love story woven through and not your cheesy Hollywood true love is amazing story. It’s a lot more gritty and real than that. It lends itself to the story in the best way. Then there’s the sci-fi part of it that I can’t get into without giving too much of the book away. Blake Crouch nailed it with this novel and I can’t recommend it enough. If you want to read my full review of the book you can find it here.
Gilmore Girls – This isn’t a new favorite by any means but I am re-watching the series ahead of the reboot in November. This is probably the 4th or 5th time that I’ve watched the entire series start to finish but I never ever get tired of it. It’s by far one of my favorite shows of all time. If you’ve never watched it I say this is the perfect time to do. It’s amazing to re-watch it now and see how much things have changed as far as fashion and technology and just the way things were back when the show started. It’s also funny how some of the references in the show are even funnier now. I still struggle with the mess that is the seventh season and I will always wonder “what if” when it comes to those story lines but for the most part the series is almost flawless in my eyes. It’s funny, reverent, emotional, dramatic, and you will never not feel like a resident of Stars Hallow when you watch it.
