Most people go to Europe and eat all kinds of new foods that you wouldn’t normally get at home. I go to Europe and eat sandwiches, salads, and smoothies. I’m not an adventurous eater in any way shape or form. I like what I like and I tend to not wander very far from my comfort zone. Especially when being in a foreign country.
So that led to me being in London and finding places that just had simple food. There was a place called Tossed right next door to my flat and I fell in love. I would do bad things to have a place like that where I live. It was all fresh, healthy food in fast food format. They had smoothies and salads and juice and everything I tried was delicious.
This smoothie was one of the things I tried there and it was basically the perfect green smoothie in my book. I added frozen pineapple to mine but other than that I kept it pretty much the same as they do. They do add fresh mint to theirs but that’s totally up to you if you want to add it or not. I have a backyard full of fresh mint that I forget about 99% of the time but it’s really good in this smoothie. Especially in the summer!
It’s packed with all kinds of nutrients from the spinach and avocado and the pineapple and banana add a bit of sweetness. I like veggies a lot but I’m also totally guilty of liking my smoothies to have a bit of “fun” with the fruit instead of just super veggie heavy. The original recipe uses apple juice and I’ve made it with apple juice too (again, totally sucker) but I’ve also done it with water or a mix of both juice and water. You can use whatever liquid you like. You could even go with almond or coconut milk if you want it to be extra creamy.
This has been my go to green smoothie and as a person who finds something I like and sticks to it completely I don’t imagine this will be going anywhere when it comes to smoothies anytime soon.
