I love lemonade just fine on it’s own but when it comes to strawberry lemonade of any kind I could literally drink it by the gallon. Considering all the sugar that is in any you can buy at the store or from restaurants that’s probably a terrible idea. I’ve also noticed that a lot of the lemonade at the store is either pink lemonade (what even is that?) or raspberry (no thank you.)
So I decided to take matters into my own hand and make my own and I also decided to make it bubbly because why the heck not. The most you have to do is puree the strawberries and make the simple syrup but other than that it’s easy as can be.
I think most people think of lemonade as a quintessential summer drink but it really is. It’s sweet and tart and fresh and just overall delicious. This version though ups the ante and makes it that much more perfect for summer. This is also sort of one of those adapt it to your liking recipes. You can add as much or as little sweetner and the same with the strawberry puree. It’s all up to you and what you like!
If you do try this or any other recipe, let me know! Leave a comment and don’t forget to take a picture and tag it #modernlittlevictories on Instagram! I’d love to hear what you think and what you create in your kitchen.
2 cups strawberries
juice of one lemon
½ cup water
½ cup sugar
sparkling lemon flavored water (I used LaCroix)
-In a small sauce pan add your water and sugar and cook over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
-Add your strawberries and lemon juice into a blender and blend until pureed. Add a little water if needed to loosen it.
-Once your simple syrup is done and has had a chance to cool a little in a glass with ice add in about ¼ cup of your strawberry puree and simple syrup to taste. Top off with the sparkling lemon water, stir, and adjust the ingredients in the drink to your taste if needed, and enjoy!
